The CD and the band are both named “Rivers
And Skies”. The CD has 18 tracks, totaling over 66 minutes long.
We describe the music as “pastoral electronica” - an ambient,
dreamy, instrumental journey into a calm, alert, gently
mind-expanded space that flows like, well, rivers and skies. It's
perfect for deep listening, or for creating an atmosphere for
reading, writing, painting, conversation, sipping tea, laying on
the floor, or anything else that suits you...
Rivers And Skies are: Jim Whisenant - Chapman Stick, electric
cello, programming and processing; Jim Buhrendorf - electric,
acoustic, slide, lap steel and 12-string guitars; and Ed Blomquist
- electric bass and guitar, synth, winds, programming and
processing.
Blending stringed instruments with computer-based digital signal
processing results in a mix of the best of both analog and digital
soundworlds. The design of the CD cover, with beautiful moody
photos from Canada and Finland, complements the vibe of the music
perfectly.
One listener said: "I think Rivers and Skies sounds amazing; it's
beautiful and relaxing, but it also has that much-desired "aliens
landing" feel to it. I've only listened to it twice but it's
already in the rotation with Eno's On Land, The Pearl, Harold Budd
+ John Foxx's Drift Music, etc... "
Another said "it's provided a soothing effect against all the
holiday related stress for me lately..."
